Dromid Pearses 0 - 10 -- St. Michael's/Foilmore 0 - 10
Dromid and St Michaels/Foilmore began their seasons with a hard fought draw held in Pairc an Phiarsaigh. Both played with slightly understrength teams but gave a good hour's entertainment.Dromid began brightly with points from Moss O Connor(got the satisfaction of scoring Dromid's first score of the year) and Kieran Bobby.Dromid backs and midfield were well on top and giving good supply into the Dromid full forward line who were making good incisive runs. Thjis period of dominance led to 2 further points from Moss and Kieran Bobby. After this though the game began to change where after a couple of sloppy passes and mistakes led to Bally/Foilmore getting back into the game, with 2 points from Bernard Kelly and one from Sean Fogarty. Fogarty then levellled up the game with a great point from 35 yards in blustery conditions. As the half drew to a close Bernard Kelly put Bally/Foilmore to into the lead for the 1st time but 2 frees from Kieran Bobby gave the initiative back to Dromid, the levveler a beauty from out on the lefty touchline. Half Time: DromidPearses 0 - 06 -- St. Michael's/Foilmore 0 -05The second half started off with Bally/Foilmore in the ascendancy again and were quickly ahead through 2 points from Padraig King and Bernard Kelly. Tomas Curran then levelled matters with his first point of the game afterrunning sprightly thriugh the Bally/Foilomore defence. Bally-Foilmore then scored another point to go one ahead once more. But this was made redundant after Denis Shine O Sullivan ran through and wisely fisted over the barDromid were level entering the last 10 minutes of the game but this was largely due to the wastefulness of Bally/Foilmore's attack. But the took the lead once more through Sean O Shea point which was quickly prompted outby a Kieran Bobby free. Beranrd Kelly the main scoring chief by Bally-Foilmore seemed to have given the points to Bally-Foilmore when he put them in front once more entering the closing stages.Has to be said too that KevinO' Shea didn't do too bad on him thriougout the game. But like throughout the South Kerry Championship Dromid didn't lay down and die. They made a surge up the field which led to Moss going through on goal but like a hare blinded by an oncoming car got in 2 minds what to do(point or goal) and the chance got promply rolled over the wheel by the oncoming Sean Fogarty. This loked to be last chance gone but Dromid made one final attac which led to Kieran Bobby slotting over his first point from playof the day to save the day. Final whistle blew soon after and points were shared.
